As a Boat Assembler/Repairer you will be responsible for constructing assembling and repairing boats and marine vessels. Working in shipyards marinas or boat manufacturing facilities you will use your technical skills and knowledge of boat construction techniques to ensure the quality safety and seaworthiness of the vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
Boat Assembly:
- Interpret and follow blueprints technical drawings and specifications to assemble boat components and structures.
- Use hand tools power tools and specialized equipment to cut shape and join boat materials such as fiberglass wood aluminum and composite materials.
- Install and fit out boat interiors including cabins seating and fixtures according to design plans and customer requirements.
Boat Repair and Maintenance:
- Inspect diagnose and troubleshoot boat systems hulls and components to identify repair needs and maintenance requirements.
- Perform fiberglass repair gel coat application and hull refinishing to repair damage scratches or imperfections.
- Replace or repair boat parts equipment and accessories such as engines propellers steering systems and electrical components.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning lubricating and servicing boat systems and machinery.
Quality Control and Inspection:
- Ensure compliance with safety standards regulations and industry best practices in boat construction and repair.
- Conduct quality inspections and tests to verify the structural integrity functionality and performance of completed boats.
- Identify and rectify defects deficiencies or deviations from specifications to meet quality assurance standards.
Customer Service and Communication:
- Interact with customers boat owners and suppliers to discuss project requirements preferences and timelines.
- Provide technical advice recommendations and estimates for boat repair customization or enhancement projects.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with stakeholders to address inquiries concerns and feedback.
Workplace Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Adhere to workplace safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and materials.
- Follow environmental regulations and best practices to minimize waste pollution and environmental impact in boat construction and repair activities.
