POSITION SUMMARY:
The Telecommunications Specialist role is to install repair maintain administer and optimize the VOIP Telecommunications Infrastructure digital telephone equipment and related system components to achieve high performance of the various organizational enterprise applications supported by tuning the telecommunications systems as necessary. This employee reports to and is supervised by the assigned administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Install troubleshoot and repair of enterprise Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and Digital Telephone systems. Perform adds moves and changes of existing telephone equipment while maintaining accurate records for E911 and online directory purposes. Configure maintain update and make changes to enterprise VOIP systems such as enterprise voicemail call accounting traffic management E911 onsite notification and Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) Service Desk reporting software. Perform routine inspection and repair of phone equipment and cabling and provide preventive maintenance as needed. Maintain an inventory of phone equipment Direct Inward Dialings (DID) trunks and circuits at each facility. Perform consulting planning and evaluation of new systems and for changes to existing systems. Perform and maintain database backup routine for all systems. Coordinate repair and installation work with local and longdistance carriers for Primary Rate Interface (PRI) Tcarrier (T1) and local trunk testing. Collaborate with team members to create optimal telecommunications/network design topologies and configurations. Work to meet service level agreements. Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans and maintain current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency VOIP outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Establish and secure telecommunications security. Liaise with and provide training and support to service desk support staff on VOIP issues. Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
HHeavy Work
Required to push pull or lift 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoors/Outdoors The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Heat The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelors Degree from an accredited College or University OR Industry Certification and Training with a High School or Equivalency Diploma. Demonstrated competency in the field of Information Systems Computer Science or Information Technologies
Experience
Five (5) years of verifiable experience in the related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that is deemed equal or superior to the foregoing requirements.
Computer Skills
Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology as required for the position. Skilled in telecommunications/network infrastructure configuration and troubleshooting.
Certificates and/or Licenses
Certified in one (1) or more enterprise telecommunications hardware systems or VOIP service platforms. Certified in one (1) or more enterprise software telecommunications systems Certified in one (1) or more structured cabling systems. Must possess a valid Florida drivers license required for travel
Other Requirements
- Availability for occasional weekend service after hours support and 24/7 support during emergency and critical time periods.
