About the position
The Climate Action Lever is currently seeking a professional in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the spatial analysis capabilities of the Climate Security team. This team is dedicated to understanding the interaction between climate environment and security. It focuses on the factors and origins that contribute to food insecurity in regions facing climaterelated challenges. The main objective of this position is to conduct geospatial analysis map visualization and data management to support the team in expanding the Climate Security Observatory to Honduras. Additionally it aims to contribute to the identification and analysis of spatial patterns related to
climate impacts on food security and displacement assisting the team in extracting insights to inform policies and interventions. The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas located in the Campus of Palmira Colombia.
Responsibilities
Conduct geospatial analysis to identify and assess areas vulnerable to climateinduced food insecurity fragility and conflict.
Develop spatial models and simulations to assess the impact of climaterelated variables on food security conflict and displacement in Honduras.
Create and maintain GIS databases ensuring accuracy relevance and accessibility of spatial data.
Conduct research to locate and obtain existing data thematic layers and grid data including maps of land cover climate socioeconomic data conflict terrain information etc.
Produce highquality maps and visualizations to communicate complex spatial information effectively.
Collaborate with the Climate Security Team to integrate GIS outputs into the Climate Security Observatory (CSO).
Provide technical support in utilizing GIS tools and software to team members.
Contribute to the backend development to help integrate outputs into the GIS platform/tool with clean welldocumented code that utilizes APIs to pull in different types of spatial and temporal data and perform operations on the data layers to produce new ones such as risk heat maps etc.
Propose or adapt existing tools or applications which may suit this requirement.

Qualifications and requirements
Bachelor s degree in geography topography agronomical or agroforestry engineering or related fields.
Master s degree specialization or training courses in GIS geography geoinformatics physical science involving advanced coding and geospatial analysis or similar.
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
Experience working with ArcGIS R Python QGIS or similar tools.
Advanced experience/knowledge in Spatial Data.
Advanced English level (oral and written).
Competences
Excellent problemsolving skills and work planning.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Strong drive to learn new topics and skills seeing research and ideas as positive impact on practice.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively (oral and written).

This is a national recruited position placed at a BG07 on a scale of 14 levels with level 14 being the highest. This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixedterm contract of a one (1) year period subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
