Job Title: Failure Analyst (Material Science)
Location: Cupertino CA
Duration: 12 Months (Contract)
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Work under the direction of engineers to execute scientific experiments and lab equipment maintenance.
Sample preparation and handson operation of indentation testers to collect data on the mechanical properties of thin films coatings or substrates (e.g. hardness elastic modulus etc). Scratch testing to measure adhesion strength fracture deformation friction force and other surface mechanical properties of materials used in a wide range of applications.
Utilization of microscopy techniques such as optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy to characterize sample structures and morphology.
Work in a team environment on multiple concurrent projects and experiments of moderate complexity.
Minimum Requirements:
A.A A.S or B.S. degree in Science or Engineering (Materials Science Mathematics Physics or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
12 years of handson experience with sample preparation and operation of one of the following is a plus: nanoindentation optical microscopes atomic force microscope etc.
Matlab knowledge is a plus.
Knowledge of safe work practices in a lab environment.
Highly effective communication skills including the ability to seek out direction ask clarifying questions communicate findings and accept feedback.
Experience with routine statistical analysis data processing methods and spreadsheet manipulation.
Willingness to be flexible learn new techniques manage multiple activities and frequently pivot to new tasks and responsibilities.
