he IMS SME will lead on all IMS matters and use of the system from goods receipt through maintenance to issue of parts. They will provide effective utilisation of subject matter knowledge and experience, ensure efficient working of the IMS system and be able to support the delivery of maintenance tasking and verification at strategic and tactical levels This ensures the maximisation of operational efficiency and minimisation of costs.
The post holder should have a strong quantitative and analytical skills/experience, with lean management principles and be an effective, credible communicator with good interpersonal skills. They will require good Typhoon product knowledge and a good understanding of the relationship with interfacing/contributory areas, and be able to analyse and interpret data with a high level of attention to detail.
Core Activity
- Ensuring that the IMS system and the data it holds is ready and available for use when required.
- Assisting the fleet planners in approving the tactical fleet plan, and the fleet maintenance plan, analyse the maintenance requirements for the Typhoon aircraft or components, highlight and, where practical, resolve any issues and ensure the timely creation of the maintenance Statement of Work for the Typhoon aircraft and its components
- Working with Fleet planning, Demand Management, Part 145 organisation, Technical services, Airworthiness records in order to deliver the required standards of Continuing airworthiness and contract delivery
- Reviewing and reporting on the effectiveness of maintenance tasks performance in the Forward and Depth environments escalating any issues. Review and report on the effectiveness of the SoW, Pre-input and Post-output review meeting (PIRM & PORM) processes, maintenance task performance and additional/emergent work requirements across all responsible maintenance locations, both On and Off aircraft.

Key Accountabilities
- Performance indicators – Ensure the effective provision of maintenance tasking and verification activities by meeting delivery targets and reporting any impact on continuing airworthiness. Understand how individual actions contribute to overall delivery performance
- Completion of activities – Ensure all maintenance tasking and verification activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on the relevant systems (IT/paper based). Compile required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate
- Procedure/standards – Comply with the CAME, its associated procedures and standards. Identify and propose changes
- Safety Management System – Ensure human factors and error management philosophies are applied to all maintenance tasking and verification activities. Understand the risks associated with maintenance tasking and verification and the means by which they are mitigated and managed
- Management System Assurance – Ensure maintenance tasking and verification activities are compliant with the QAF Governance and Assurance framework, including supporting process confirmations and independent assurance audits. Support the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner. Support the implementation of identified improvements to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness
