We are seeking a Registered Nurse to work on our 14-bed pediatric unit that specializes in the care of the medically complex child. The nurses on this unit work very closely with a multidisciplinary team which includes Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Psychologists, Surgeons, Case Managers, Social Workers and Child Life Specialists to coordinate a holistic plan of care for the patient and family.Pediatric populations on this unit include children dependent on technology such as home ventilators and home dialysis as well as children dependent on tracheostomies. The unit also specializes in the care of children with acute and chronic nephrology diseases, new diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, epilepsy and idiopathic/non-idiopathic scoliosis. Minimum Requirements: Facility Requirement: Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (address must be included in traveler's profile). Experience: Minimum one year pediatric experience required - including trach and ventilator experience.Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last three years. Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital. Traveler must have successfully completed 13 week travel assignment. Licensure and Certification: Traveler must have Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from their permanent address state. BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLYPALS - must be certified through American Heart Associate ONLY Education:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. References Needs 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only). Telemetry Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date. Floating Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract. Shift: 36 hrs/week, Day/Nights, majority of schedule will be 12 hour shifts. Anticipate 50/50 split between 12 hour day shifts and 12 hour night shifts. Weekend and holiday rotation required based on contract. Flexibility is required per operational needs of department.
