Construction Accounting Manager/Construction

Job Summary
The Accounting Manager needs to understand all financial transactions and implications throughout the company. Due to the nature of the business, the Accounting Manager will be in a very demanding position tracking all the different costs of each job and understanding each cost. This position works closely with many people including but not limited to project managers, estimators, financial institutions, clients, and subcontractors. The Controller will be responsible for accurate job costing, job cost structures, and will be able to answer any financial questions or know where to get the information to answer any financial questions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise Accounting Team such as Office Manager, Bookkeeper or Administrative Assistant when applicable.
Duties/Responsibilities Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
- Analyze profit and loss for various business units – Interior Design, Architecture, Construction and Cabinets.
- Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
- Assist management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
- Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensure compliance.
- Manage all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
- Forecast and manage cash flow.
- HR- will be working closely with HR outsourcing and Office Manager
Required Skills/Abilities Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. - Experience in a construction business with activity-based project costing
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and me.
- Computer literate with construction industry specific software
- Must be familiar with the Construction Industry and have experience with project cost reporting, WIP - work in progress reporting, and equipment cost reporting
Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CPA preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or relevant industry
