Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opening for a Reporting Analyst to join our team. This position will deliver insights to business leaders and customers using benefit claims, plan design, and product information.
The ideal candidate has a great attitude, dedicated work ethic, has a proven track record for delivering excellent reporting results, and can quickly build expertise and relationships in constantly shifting business environments.
This position plays a pivotal role in supporting our benefit plan management initiatives and produces reports, trends, and analysis that showcases Alberta Blue Cross expertise and value in benefit management.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Use your ever-growing business knowledge, your technical agility, and exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver insights about benefits (drug, extended health benefits, dental, life and disability), plan designs, and products, based on data you ll collect from a variety of systems and people.
- Work closely with our business leaders, customers, sales team, and product partners to find out what information they need, and then manage tasks and timelines to deliver results.
- Design, develop, validate, and deliver contractual and ad hoc reports.
- Build efficient tools and processes to provide predictive analytics, using both internal data and external industry, population, and health data.
- Make recommendations and improvements to the design and delivery of reports, analytics practices, and data management.
- Create excellent working relationships with business, IT, and analytics peer groups
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- An undergraduate degree/diploma or certification in Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
- Preferred 1 year of experience querying and analyzing data to produce high-quality insights.
- Above average skills in database querying and reporting with a working knowledge of database management functions, various reporting systemsand techniques.
- Proficiency in building Microsoft Access queries and using advanced Excel macros.
- Quickly able to orient yourself in an unfamiliar data environment with little or no guidance.
- Possess a high degree of critical thinking, to select the most appropriate input data, modeling method, and techniques.
- Strong capabilities in visualizing data into tables and graphs with Excel, and knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Preferred familiarity with SQL and complex queries utilizing multiple joins, sub-queries, and pivots. Oracle SQL (PLSQL) is a plus.
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as R, Python and Git
- Experience working in a Unix environment is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and work well under deadline pressures.
