The VIB Myeloid Cell Immunology lab, led by Prof. Jo Van Ginderachter is looking for a motivated lab technician to take care of the general organisation of the lab. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out various general tasks in support of the researchers working in the lab. These tasks include:
- Daily monitoring of the organisation of the lab and reporting any problems to the Lab Manager. Acting as a liaison between the research team and the administration.
- Preparation and management of general, standard solutions and buffers to support the general research work within the lab
- Execution of standardised, routine research tasks under the supervision of experienced researchers
- Occasional support with cleaning of the laboratory animal cages
- Waste management
- Arranging maintenance and repairs of research equipment
- Management of shipments and deliveries
- Administrative support concerning orders

Requirements
- The candidate must at least have a secondary degree. A bachelor degree or experience in biomedical, biochemical, biotechnological laboratory techniques or related disciplines is a plus
- Good knowledge of Dutch or English.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel,...).
- Flexible and willing to learn new techniques and expand personal knowledge.
- The candidate is able to independently monitor the quality of his/her own work and that of others.
- Proactive personality, very organized and structured, eye for detail, hard worker in both solitary and team context, good communication skills.

- Fixed term (1 year, with possibility of extension)
