The Ballistics Engineering Technician will be primarily responsible for preparing and processing various ballistics composite samples for testing, by operating various manual and automated cutting and pressing equipment, by following lab safety protocols in doing so, and helping to maintain the safety and operation of the lab and equipment in the process.
Requirements:
MUST be a US Person (US Citizen or Green Card holder)
Able to run hydraulic press equipment and CNC cutting equipment
Able to follow instructions and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Able to manage multiple test requests with a variety of materials and process cycles
Able to effectively communicate results and observations
Responsibilities:
Maintain high standards for operational safety, including lab and equipment Preventive Maintenance (PM), and following established SOPs
Prepare ballistic composite samples layups for processing, including using manual and/or CNC automated cutting and forming equipment
Process ballistic composite specimens and articles, including setting up and running hydraulic press equipment
Document critical sample and test details in Microsoft Office format, including communicating results and observations
Execute tooling changes to mold articles of various sizes and shapes, including using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Assist with safety reviews of new processes and equipment, including working with Safety team to develop SOPs
Desired skills/capabilities/experience:
Associate degree in engineering or equivalent career experience
Experience with hydraulic presses, or other composite or polymer molding equipment
Experience with composites or polymers and molding cycles
Experience or Familiarity with CAD and CNC machinery
Experience or Familiarity with Mechanical Testing protocols
