SQL DBA

Onsite in East Lansing, MI 1-2 days/week

Position Summary

Manage SQL Server as administrator and programmer. Lead design, development, and support of web applications, vended solutions, interfaces, and website; provide web accessibility support; assist with business requirements analysis, evaluation, and recommendation of solutions; assist with project management, process mapping, training, and documentation

% Effort Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

45% SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS Administration, defining Schema, creating database/tables, managing SQL Accounts, creating/ Scheduling Jobs/Packages/stored procedures, tuning performance, Backup, Restore, SQL Server upgrades/migrations

35% Fix bugs, code improvements, and design and develop new features for UPL applications like Shipping, SCLogic, SPB feeds and various automation jobs such as the Orchestrator jobs and related scripts

10% Provide support to unit website working with Cascade (content management tool); Provide web accessibility support for USD; Represent Finance on web accessibility team and serve as a delegate on Web Governance committee

5% Prepare technical documentation; work with end-users; professional development, training, cross training; support tasks as assigned

5% Secondary point of contact for support of UPL VMware hosted Windows Server virtual machines. Skills need include Domain administration, user account management, roles/services configuration (ADS, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP, IIS, etc.), troubleshooting, and back/restoration process as needed via Commvault.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of SQL server database administration, web technologies, web services, and database systems (SQL & Oracle)
• Knowledge of networking concepts, IIS
• Experience with programming tools and solutions e.g., .Net
• Ability to engage in analytical and critical thinking
• Self-directed
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team and willingness to learn and share knowledge
• Understanding of supply chain concepts
