The Superintendent Technical is responsible for process efficiencies and continuous improvement of the process. This role manages the overall metallurgical activities in the Auxiliary Services department and act as the custodian for the equipment specifications and process parameters
Key responsibilities will include:
Developing and managing process optimization projects to meet the Auxiliary Service five-year business plan.
Co-ordination of the activities of the Metallurgists and Technicians to provide high quality information for process development and support for the water circuit (i.e., Tails Thickeners, Hydro sep, TSF, RWD and Dewatering).
Leading Metallurgical team in conducting test work to quantify improvement to flow sheets and operating practices and justify new capital expenditure.
Ensuring that the improvement processes developed are implemented and sustained.
Custodian of Metallurgical accounting.
Working closely with Human Resources Business Partners in attracting, retaining, and developing the talent pool necessary to ensure succession and continuity of operations.
Close liaison with the support and value chain stakeholders to ensure that sectional operational strategies are aligned with business objectives.
Ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental management systems standards are implemented and maintained.
Developing and/or reviewing policies and procedures in response to all generic departmental activities (such as production, safety, environment, health, quality, and cost management).
Requirements
B.Sc. / B.Eng. / B.Tech. Degree (Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy) preferable in mineral processing.
Must have a post graduate leadership or financial management qualification will be advantageous.
Experience in business improvement and continuous improvement.
Minimum of 7 years experience in Metallurgy specializing in Mineral Processing.
Must have a demonstrated track record of supervising and leading teams for 2 years or longer.
At least 5 years working experience and legal knowledge of SHEQ systems.
