Job Description

Position Summary:

South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary is currently seeking qualified candidates to be cleared and added to our Master of Christian Counseling adjunct availability pool. Qualified applicants, transcripts, and documents will be reviewed and processed in preparation for upcoming terms. Select adjuncts from the pool are contracted term-by-term based on course/section needs and availability. It is preferred that adjuncts teach at least two courses each academic year. South Florida Bible College & Theological Seminary reserves the right to not schedule and/or cancel courses based on enrollment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned online courses as contracted.
  • Provide all necessary information and teach materials as outlined in the syllabus.
  • Communicate regularly with the Division Chair regarding program updates and/or student-related concerns.
  • Meet for all scheduled class meetings for the assigned term.
  • Abide by and uphold core values and mission.
  • Maintain appropriate ethical conduct as outlined by the ACA Code of Ethics.
  • Submit final grades within one week of the end of term.


Preferred Qualifications:

A Doctorate in a Social Science-related field and a Master of Counseling. A Doctorate in Counselor Education, PsyD, or PhD is preferred.


Essential Qualifications:

Earned MA in Psychology or Clinical Psychology


Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar and punctuation
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and collaboratively with other teachers and university staff
  • Ability to interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels in a multi-cultural, multi-denominational environment


Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing writing processes pertaining to invention, revision, organization, and editing.
  • Recognize various rhetorical audiences and appropriate manners of addressing them.
  • Have the ability to analyze work, participate in discussions, and give constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to facilitate online lecture.
  • Interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels
  • Prior teaching experience in a college setting is a plus, particularly teaching online.
  • Teaches all courses as assigned by the Department Chair or Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance and punctuality.
  • Always maintains a professional appearance.
  • Prepares course syllabi.
  • Meets all scheduled classes on the assigned day /time.
  • Uses scheduled class time appropriately.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude, philosophy, and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the institutional mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Adheres to College Rules and Procedures, which reflect updated Federal, state, and local legislation that governs the educational process.
  • Maintains accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes, submitting grade reports within college deadlines.
  • Promotes and maintains a healthy and safe educational and work environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
  • Demonstrates professional growth and development by updating knowledge of subject matter and using effective teaching techniques.
  • Develops, maintains and promotes a positive working environment among departmental faculty.
