Position Description:

The IDEAL School of Manhattan currently seeks a caring, skilled, and experienced individual to work as a 1:1 health and mobility paraprofessional in the Lower School. This individual will provide assistance in ambulation, activities of daily living, transfer of a student from a wheelchair to adaptive equipment, management of orthotics, and use of assistive technology. Paraprofessional will provide support with feeding at snack and lunchtime. Additionally, the role requires assistance with toileting in the transfer of the student to the toilet/commode, adjusting clothing, and completing related personal hygiene routines. The paraprofessional will also work closely with the student s Associate Teacher and Lead Teachers throughout the day to ensure they are supported in their physical needs in a manner that facilitates their full participation in the work and life of the classroom and community.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

• Strong collaboration and written and verbal communication skills
  
• Patience and flexibility
  
• Physically able to lift student for transfers
  
• Safely support student positioning for participation in whole group activities
  
• Two or more years experience working with an individual with physical disabilities
  
• Associate s degreepreferred
  
• Relevant certification preferred
  
• Independent school experience preferred
