Supplier Quality Engineer

Essential Functions/Duties

Fulfill customers Quality deliverables for all project requirements.

Support new development process and ensures supplier involvement throughout the project stages and work with supplier to resolve any issue before and after SOP

Manage all assigned suppliers in aspects of Quality Project Management for the project team (i.e., kick off meetings, check fixture approvals, dimensional and appearance conformance, Process Capability, APQP, PPAP, Gage RR, Run at rate-line speed demonstrations for the project supply base etc). Communicate and manage all the above tasks for Engineering changes that happen after SOP.

Manage Quality aspect for the Run at rate-for line speed (demonstration with Customer)

Authority to stop a process known to create non-conformances or to hold a document known to be non-conforming.

Responsible to work with Project team and Plants to resolve known issues

Provide quality related project updates and feedback to Management,
Timely escalation of Supplier Quality issues to Project Team and Management during project phase and also after SOP

Responsibility to respond to internal & external customer requests efficiently, and with enthusiasm, ensuring customer has a high level of confidence when dealing with employees, products, and services.

Review of supplier check fixture designs and approval for use

Review of supplier dimensional data and provide feedback on corrections needed to meet GDT requirements.

Review and approval of APQP Core Documents; provide feedback and guidance to supplier as needed to ensure documents meet AIAG and OEM customer standards.

Learn and understand customer portals and be able to monitor changes to customer-specific requirements, to be passed on to suppliers.

Understand and comply with company EHS policy

Coordination and support of initial samples/ Initial builds (Module assembly and single parts). Ensure supplier support these builds with on time and good quality parts.

Create SOWs for supplied components; support Technical Reviews with suppliers

Monitor supplier performance after SOP and work with them to improve their performance. Report Supplier performance to QM and Regional mange and HQ.

Lead supplier assessments to qualify new suppliers. Perform Audits at supplier as needed and work with them to close the findings of the audits

Ensure any supplier issues are addressed with proper root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effectiveness of corrective actions must be proven

Responsible to work with supplier for any warranty related topics and address the issues with proper root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effectiveness of corrective actions must be proven

Education:

• B.S. Degree (Quality or Engineering degree preferred)
• 5 years' experience (or equivalent).

Professional Training/Technical Training:

• Working Knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards and VDA a plus but not required. Core tools, APQP, GD&T, Dimensional analysis.

Related Experience/Specialized Knowledge:

• IATF 16949
• Experience with Tesla, or other North American OEMs is preferred
• JIT/JIS environment
• Assembly and injection experience.
